The only record for Catherine Barton, wife (?) of Josiah is her burial entry in the Upholland Parish Register. She was buried 14 Feb. 1749/50 at Upholland, was a widow living in Winstanley. She is the only Barton woman in the area with no connection to any other Bartons, so they assumed she was the wife of Josiah. She may be, but she also may not be. She fits because she is from Winstanley and is a widow, dying 8 months after Josiah.There are no grave markers.
Gilbert was christened 9 April 1721 as recorded in the Upholland Parish Register. His father is listed as "Josiha" living in Winstanley.
Ancestral file lists Josiah's father as Andrew, however, the parish record actually gives the name Joshua for Andrew's child and there is no reason to assume that this Joshua is really Josiah.
